Natsproektstroy has concreted the first drawbridge pile as part of High-Speed Latitudinal Highway

Specialists of Roads and Bridges JSC of Natsproektstroy have started the installation of bored piles of the future drawbridge as part of High-Speed Latitudinal Highway in St. Petersburg. The first bored pile with a diameter of 1,500 mm and a length of 31.1 m has been concreted.

The builders of Mostootryad-99 Branch of Roads and Bridges has drilled in the prepared area, installed a reinforcing cage and completed concreting. The design requires a total of 272 bored piles to be installed during the bridge construction.

The techniques used make it possible to create the foundation for future structures with maximum load-bearing capacity, even on difficult soils.

"We have to work in constrained urban conditions – close to cultural heritage sites and transport infrastructure. The experience we have gained over two years building Bolshoy Smolensky Bridge and adjacent interchanges will be a big help to us here, such as fine-tuned logistics, field-tested techniques. We will do everything in our power to complete all the work on time and with the best quality," said Alexander Ilyin, Director of Mostootryad 99.

The fourth stage of High-Speed Latitudinal Highway with a total length of over 5 km is considered the most technically challenging: it will require the installation of 1,216 bored piles, 160,000 cubic meters of concrete and 16,000 tons of steel structures.

The bridge of High-Speed Latitudinal Highway in the section of Faiansovaya and Zolnaya Streets will be 462.9 meters long. It will stand on 11 pillars, including 6 riverbed ones. The draw span bascule is 60.1 meters long. The bridge was designed for the current height restrictions due to the nearby cultural heritage site — the Finnish Railway Bridge.
