GC NPS, JSC completed digitalization of the railway corridor section between Azerbaijan and Georgia

In Azerbaijan, specialists from 1520 Signal (part of GC NPS, JSC) equipped a section of the Ujar-Gajigabul railroad with modern automation. This completed the digitalization of train traffic control on the Baku-Beyuk-Kesik line, part of the international transport corridor between Azerbaijan and Georgia.

The project was implemented in partnership with Rail Trans Service, the customer is Azerbaijan Railways.

"When working on large infrastructure projects abroad, GC NPS, JSC strives to create an ecosystem with local partners: we localize part of production and create jobs. Digitalization of the Baku-Beyuk-Kesik line is a successful example of such international cooperation. As a result of the project, the speed and efficiency of transportation on the line will increase significantly, as well as traffic safety," said Dmitry Bolotsky, Deputy General Director for Commerce of GC NPS, JSC Group of Companies.

Dmitri Bolotsky emphasized that digitalization will increase the speed of passenger trains on the Baku-Beyuk-Kesik line from 100 km/h to 140 km/h, freight trains - from 80 km/h to 120 km/h. The interval between trains will be reduced from 20 to 8 minutes in the future.

The Ujar-Gajigabul section with a length of 122 km has not been modernized for more than forty years, since 1980. During the project, instead of outdated relay systems, modern digital automation - MPC-EL-AZ microprocessor centralization - was introduced here.

Now station dispatchers will be able to remotely, via computer, switch switches and traffic lights, set routes, monitor device parameters and timely identify pre-failure states of equipment.
The new system will control the work of 6 stations, 19 crossings and more than 120 switches. The manufacturer of the system is the Azerbaijani company Rail Trans Service, while the development is based on Russian digital solutions of the GC NPS, JSC companies.

In total, since 2019, GC NPS, JSC companies have digitized 711 switches and 27 stations on the Baku-Beyuk-Kesik line, including the most important junctions of Ganja, Yevlakh, Ujar and the Beyuk-Kesik current junction station.
