Natsproektstroy companies have erected 610 pillars for bridges and overpasses on the section of the first Moscow – St. Petersburg High-Speed Railway from Zelenograd to New Tver.

It takes about two months to build one pillar. The height of structures is 1.5 to 20 meters, depending on the terrain, route grade, and for bridges – and on the water level in the river. A footing of driven or bored piles is made under each pillar to ensure reliability. The procedure for driving them is determined based on the results of dynamic and static soil tests, the driving depth can reach up to 27 meters like a nine-story building.

Next, the pillar grillage is prepared – a concrete slab that combines several piles and distributes the load from the spans over them. After that, the builders make a reinforcement cage and concrete the pillar body, which takes 7 to 20 days depending on the height.

In total, 51 artificial structures will be built on the high-speed railway section from Zelenograd to New Tver, where the first high-speed train in Russia will be tested: bridges and road overpasses. In total, they require more than 1,100 pillars.
