Natsproektstroy and Russian Railways are completing the construction of a testing ground for a non-ballast high-speed railway track in the Leningrad Region. The testing ground is located on Sablino – Tosno Section of the Oktyabrskaya Railway, and for the first time in Russia, it will test the entire structure of the innovative track of the future high–speed railway, from the subgrade to non-ballast slabs and rail fasteners.
Natsproektstroy companies have prepared reinforced subgrade on the testing ground, installed concrete foundations and are completing the installation of non-ballast slabs.
The slabs are installed with an accuracy of one millimeter using robotic total stations and proprietary software, which in real time compares the actual position of the slabs with the design parameters. A total of 263 slabs will be installed on the testing ground: 207 rail slabs and 56 point switch slabs.
After high-precision positioning and fastening of each element of the track, the builders pour a layer of self-compacting concrete between the slab and the foundation. The grout does not require vibration and fills the entire space. This creates a single structure designed for train speeds up to 400 km/ h, with a service life of over 50 years.
