NPS Companies to Install Over 23,000 Tons of Equipment for Bridge Girder Production at Moscow–St. Petersburg HSR Sites
At ten production sites manufacturing box girders for the HSR bridges and overpasses, NPS companies are installing more than 23,000 tons of manufacturing and crane equipment. To put that into perspective, that is enough steel to build three Eiffel Towers.

The largest HSR girders weigh 700 tons each—ten times heavier than those typically used in highway construction. To facilitate their production and installation, the sites will assemble 17 cantilever launching gantries, 22 transport trolleys, and 46 80-ton cranes. A total of 13 rubber-tired gantry cranes, each with a 900-ton lifting capacity, will be assembled at the sites to move the girders. Assembling just one such unit takes about a month.
In addition to the mechanical equipment, each site will feature a rebar shop, rebar cage fabrication stands, aggregate storage facilities, a concrete batching plant, concrete casting beds, and storage yards for finished girders.
In total, NPS and RZD are equipping 10 HSR bridge girder production sites in Moscow, Tver, Novgorod, and Leningrad regions. The production facilities are being set up near the construction sites to optimize logistics and cut installation costs, as these girders are too heavy to be transported via public roads.
