Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and Alexey Krapivin, CEO of Natsproektstroy Group, opened traffic on the Akademik Korolev Bridge across the Moskva River in the Beregovoy Passage section. Andrey Korolev, the grandson of the legendary designer, also attended the ceremony.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin thanked the builders for their work: "What a present on the eve of the City Day!"
In early 2025, the bridge was named after Sergei Pavlovich Korolev. The structure has six traffic lanes – three in each direction – exits to Shelepikhinskoye Highway and the embankment on the left bank of the Moskva River.
The bridge has a cable-stayed arch design – a 315 m long superstructure cable-stayed under a metal arch. The structure has sidewalks, stairs and elevators for the convenience of pedestrians and cyclists.
Mostootryad-4 (part of NPS Group) has built the bridge by longitudinal launching, which was performed from April to December 2024. Then the superstructure was lowered onto permanent supports. Bridge arches were assembled in several stages.
