The first field expedition took place near the village of Votolino in Novgorod Region, where fierce battles with the Nazi invaders took place in the winter of 1942. For two weeks, 20 students lived in a field camp, searching for and raising the remains of soldiers.

During the expedition, the team found the remains of 60 fallen Soviet soldiers and nine soldiers' medallions. Six of the medallions found have already been deciphered, returning the names to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War.

The students were coordinated by the Nakhodka Search Party, with which Natsproektstroy signed a cooperation agreement. The party searches for unburied soldiers of the Red Army during the Great Patriotic War, including at the construction sites of the first Moscow –St. Petersburg High-Speed Railway passing through Novgorod Region.
