The 47.7-kilometer Northwestern Bypass of Kemerovo has significantly reduced travel time along the R-255 Siberia federal highway, which links Novosibirsk to Irkutsk. The bypass reroutes transit traffic away from Kemerovo's city center.

GC NPS oversaw the project through its subsidiaries: the Stroyproekt Institute handled design, while Mostostroy-11 executed construction. The bridge was completed ahead of schedule in just two years.

Innovative engineering techniques were employed during construction, including conveyor-supported assembly and incremental launching methods. Segments were assembled on a specialized 120-meter slipway on the left bank of the Tom River.

The launching nose, a lightweight guiding structure, proved instrumental in reducing span weight and improving installation efficiency.

The name 'Zvezdny' (Stellar) was chosen by Kuzbass residents via an online vote in 2023.
