On 16 July 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin opened traffic on this section of the motorway. Commissioning of M-11 Neva high-speed toll motorway reduced the travel time from Moscow to St. Petersburg to 5 hours.

The Northern Tver Bypass was built round-the-clock, which made it possible to put the facility into operation a year ahead of the deadline set by the state contract. The project included the construction of 29 man-made structures, including 6 bridges and 23 overpasses.

The most significant of the man-made structures is the bridge over the Volga River, built within two years. The size of the structure allows large passenger liners to pass under it.

Opening of M-12 Moscow – Kazan high-speed motorway made it possible to move along the 1,520 km transport corridor from St. Petersburg to Kazan without a single traffic light and crossing.

The extension of M-12 motorway to Yekaterinburg will connect about 2,500 kilometres with a seamless high-speed link.
