In February 2017, TEK Mosenergo specialists started construction. On 19 December 2018, after successful integrated tests, the power engineers commissioned the first power unit of Grozny TPP.
The second phase of the TPP was commissioned on 28 June 2019. Each power unit includes a 180 MW natural gas-fired gas turbine unit.
The new thermal power plant covered the republic's electricity shortage.
