Russian President Vladimir Putin and Tatarstan's leader Rustam Minnikhanov inaugurated the bridge by videoconference. With the bridge and bypass operational, travel time from Moscow to the Urals has been reduced by one hour.
The project was completed nearly a year ahead of schedule.
The bridge includes 15 piers in the overpass sections and 7 in the main river span, with heights reaching 46 meters. The most technically demanding part of the project was constructing the main span across the Kama River, due to fluctuating water levels in the Nizhnekamsk Reservoir.
Marine construction required specialized equipment, including crane barges, tugboats, and a floating concrete plant. A steel superstructure was launched upstream using a custom hydraulic system for precise installation.
