Four padel courts have been installed in the Central Sports Arena in Veliky Novgorod with support from Natsproektstroy. The launch of the new facility was attended by Alexander Dronov, Governor of the Novgorod Region, and Nikita Terentyev, CEO of NPS-Skorostnye Tekhnologii (a member of Natsproektstroy).
According to Alexander Dronov, nearly 60% of residents in the Novgorod Region take part in sports. For this purpose, grounds and indoor sports centres are being built in every town and community, and stadiums are being upgraded.
"Sport is for everyone — it brings generations together and makes our families stronger. Padel is a dynamic and accessible sport. It suits both experienced athletes and beginners. The whole family can take it up. And I hope these courts will become one more spot where Novgorod residents can spend their time both productively and enjoyably," the regional head noted.
He expressed his appreciation to Natsproektstroy for its backing of the region and for bringing the initiative to create a new sporting space to life.
"Padel is rapidly gaining popularity around the world. Here, dynamism meets excitement — every match is a challenge: to test your agility, speed, and team spirit, and to recharge your energy along the way. We expect the courts to be in demand among Novgorod residents. May this project launch a new sporting tradition for the city," Nikita Terentyev commented.
The area of each professional court is 10×20 metres. Canopies have been installed above them to protect players from rain and, in summer - from sunlight. Well-designed lighting will allow comfortable play both during the day and in the evening, after work or study. The courts' purpose-built surface and glass enclosures conform to international standards.
Everything required for the game has been provided on site: comfortable changing rooms with individual lockers and showers, a coffee point for a break between sets, and a rental station for equipment.
Natsproektstroy consistently supports the Russian Padel Federation, the development of players, and the organization of tournaments. Padel is a lively hybrid of tennis and squash. Doubles matches are played on an enclosed court with glass walls. The objective is to score more points and to serve the ball in such a way that opponents cannot return it.
