Russia's first fully unmanned tram has started regular trips with passengers in Moscow along Route #10, equipped with digital automation systems from Natsproektstroy.
Sergei Sobyanin, Moscow Mayor, took part in the opening of regular passenger services.
10 smart point switches designed and manufactured by NPS companies have been installed on the route of the country's first fully unmanned tram. Such a point switch transmits its position data to the unmanned tram via a secure link. If the tram needs to change direction, it sends a signal, and the point switch automatically moves to the desired position.
NPS's digital automation system monitors all the parameters of point switches including weather conditions: when it snows, the system auto-activates equipment heating.
Digitalization improves the efficiency of the capital's tram lines. The tram runs faster through the automated point switch, which speeds up the entire traffic flow, reduces intervals of tram services, and boosts the safety.
