GC NPS, JSC and GLONASS tested a prototype of Russia's first unmanned roller on the M-12 highway
GC NPS, JSC and the ERA-GLONASS operator have successfully tested the basic functions of the high-precision driving system for the country's first unmanned road roller. The test runs were conducted in Perm Krai, on the Dyurtyuli - Achit section of the M-12 Vostok highway, which was built by NPS companies.

The steering control of the road roller has been switched to the auto steering mode. The operator sets the required number of passes and width of overlap from a tablet, after which the system autonomously regulates the trajectory of movement and performs the work with centimeter accuracy. Adherence to minimum tolerances increases the speed of work while meeting all process requirements. In addition, the load on the operator of special equipment and the risk of human error are reduced.
Prospective development of the system and introduction of full autonomy of machinery movement will allow the operator to control several machines simultaneously.
"The system of high-precision auto driving is a unique solution for road construction equipment. The possibility of testing on the testing ground of the M-12 highway accelerates the scaling of the technology for specific equipment and for the effective fulfillment of local tasks of specialists, which initially forms an economically feasible model of our system. As part of the project, we use our own developments and domestic high-precision positioning services of Roscosmos State Corporation. Such an integrated solution is more efficient than manual control of machinery, which improves the quality of road construction", - said Alexei Raikevich, General Director of JSC GLONASS.
Joint work of the National Project Construction and the operator of the state information system “ERA-GLONASS” contributes to the formation of technological and navigational sovereignty of Russia. The results of testing and prospects for the development of the high-precision driving system will be demonstrated at the International Exhibition “Unmanned Systems: Technologies of the Future”, which opened today at the Skolkovo Technopark.
