Approximately 270,000 cubic meters of soil were moved and processed by the equipment operators to expand the railway embankment for the new track. Most of it was used for the embankment, reaching 11 meters in height.
To prevent erosion and washouts, drainage ditches were constructed along the track alignment, and geotextile was used to reinforce the railway embankment. The rail section improvements included three new bridges, notably a 134-meter span over the Silinka River. A new overpass now carries the railway line over the Komsomolsk-on-Amur – Solnechny highway.
The project also included modernization of signaling, centralization, and blocking (SCB), communication, and power supply system along the section. Over 100 kilometers of cable were laid, and track development was carried out at adjacent stations. At Khalgaso station, 20 new electric point machines were installed, and a microprocessor-based interlocking system (MPC-EL), developed and manufactured by GC NPS, JSC companies, was implemented. Noise-reducing screens have been erected along the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM) in the vicinity of the village of Khalgaso.
The implementation of a new double-track insertion, in conjunction with a comprehensive upgrade of the Novy Urengoy – Komsomolsk-on-Amur railway line, will result in an increase in the freight carrying capacity of this section of the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM) from 24 mln to 49 mln tpa.
