The main construction stage of the combined-cycle power unit of Svobodny TPP has begun.
The expansion project of 160 MW Svobodny TPP, commissioned in 2021 to supply the Amur Gas Processing Plant, involves the construction of a 450 MW power unit based on two 160 MW gas turbine units and a 130 MW steam turbine.
The new power unit will facilitate the electrification of the railway infrastructure of the Eastern Region, which is strategically important for the country. In August 2024, the Russian Government included the project in the Comprehensive Mainline Infrastructure Upgrade and Expansion Plan, and in January 2026 – in the List of Thermal Power Plants Upgraded and / or Built in the Former Non-Price Zones of the Wholesale Market. Gazprom Energoholding LLC is the key project contractor.
The design documentation was developed by Teploelectroproekt Institute JSC (part of Natsproektstroy Group) and received a positive conclusion from Glavgosexpertiza of Russia. TEK Mosenergo JSC (part of Natsproektstroy Group) has currently started the main construction stage. The foundations of the main building and 86.2-meter-high cooling tower are being prepared. In 2026, it is planned to finish shell, core and utilities of the main building of the thermal power plant.
EnergoSK (part of Natsproektstroy Group) is expanding 220 kV outdoor switchgear and 110 kV outdoor switchgear of Svobodny TPP. Foundations are being built for electrical equipment, cable racks, portals, and supports for flexible connections.
The construction of an administrative building, a camp and a warehouse is being completed as part of the preparatory construction stage. Earlier, Bamstroymechanizatsiya Management Company (part of Natsproektstroy Group) performed engineering slope protection and construction site preparation for the main stage.
