Transit Park D was opened at Komsomolsk-Sortirovochny station in Khabarovsk Krai. The facility was built by Bamstroymekhanizatsiya (part of Natsproektstroy) as part of the Vostochny polygon development program.
In order to build the earth bed for the new tracks, the mechanics paved an area of 29 hectares, which is 40 soccer fields. They processed more than 500 thousand cubic meters of soil, moved numerous communications: communication and power supply cables. They built 1 bridge and 3 culverts at creek crossings.
In the transit park “D” 8 receiving and departing tracks were laid, designed to handle long trains. The total length of the new tracks was 15.6 kilometers. They are connected by 37 switches with automatic snow clearing.
The park was equipped with modern means of communication, signaling and power supply. The train traffic will be controlled by digital automation developed and manufactured by Natsproektstroy companies. Microprocessor centralization MECC-EL will allow remote control of switches and traffic lights, make up train routes.
With the opening of the new park, the throughput capacity of Komsomolsk-Sortirovochny station increased from 24 to 36 pairs of trains per day. The park began servicing trains arriving from the west and preparing them for the difficult road to Vanino through the Sikhote-Alin Ridge: changing locomotive crews and testing brakes.
