BSM: the first hydraulic cylinders of the draw span were installed
An important stage of work was completed on the construction of the Big Smolensk Bridge - a system of four hydraulic cylinders required for the installation of the draw span of the structure was installed on support №5.
The work was carried out by specialists of the Roads and Bridges branch of GC NPS, JSC.
The weight of each hydraulic cylinder is about 6 tons. The installation was carried out with the support of specialists from the Obukhov Plant, where the devices were manufactured. Each of them is capable of withstanding the design load of 360 tons for reaming and 300 tons for span separation.
The builders carried out a lot of preparatory work. Counterweight blocks were mounted on the support in advance. They will ensure effective functioning of the bridge's “wings”. The weight of each block is more than 50 tons, their installation was carried out with the help of a floating crane with the lifting capacity of 100 tons.
On the slipway on the Perevoznaya embankment specialists of the National Design Bureau are assembling steel structures of the drawbridge span. After this year's navigation is over, it is planned to be moved to the bridge by barges and installed in the design position.
The hydraulic cylinders will also be installed on support №6 in the current quarter.
More than 500 specialists and 87 units of construction equipment are involved in the construction of the large-scale infrastructure facility on a daily basis.
