"Today GC NPS, JSC is implementing a number of major infrastructure projects in St. Petersburg. We are building the Big Smolensk Bridge, participating in the creation of the country's first dedicated high-speed highway, and reconstructing metro facilities. The joint project to expand the network of streetcar routes will significantly improve the transportation accessibility of the southern districts of the city".
Herman Gref, President, Chairman of the Management Board, Sberbank:
"Sber is betting on the future of St. Petersburg - a city where a comfortable urban environment is becoming a driver of economic growth. The new streetcar lines are an investment in the quality of life of the city's citizens. We see how modern infrastructure is changing the city: already today our joint projects, including the Moscow-St. Petersburg HSL, set new standards of mobility. The new project will be another step towards creating an integrated transportation system for the megacity - convenient, technological and environmentally friendly".
"St. Petersburg is regaining its title of the streetcar capital. This mode of transportation, which has become one of the symbols of St. Petersburg, is once again coming to the forefront, providing connections between the city's districts. In recent years, we have been doing a lot of work to upgrade the St. Petersburg streetcar. We buy new rolling stock, including retro streetcars “Dovlatov” and “Dostoevsky”. We are overhauling the tracks and other infrastructure. We have moved on to creating streetcar lines that are fundamentally new for St. Petersburg. This year the first section of the Kupchino-Shushary-Slavianka route will open. Today we are starting an even more ambitious project. The modern streetcar will become a fast and comfortable transportation link between the new districts in the south, connect Kolpino, Pushkin and the satellite town "Yuzhny", allowing their residents to quickly get to the subway. Convenient public transportation, including streetcars, is one of the 10 priorities of St. Petersburg's development in the coming years".
