GC NPS, JSC Companies to Prepare Infrastructure for High-speed Railway Line 1 in St. Petersburg
GC NPS, JSC is on its way to prepare railway infrastructure on St. Petersburg-Glavny — Obukhovo II section. The work to be performed is part of the Moscow–Saint Petersburg High-speed Railway Project.
The contract provides for preparing the area for two main tracks of the new railway and alteration of St. Petersburg-Sortirovochny-Moskovsky station’s technological site.
The builders employed by Roads and Bridges JSC (a member of GC NPS, JSC) will erect close to 70 km of tracks and 15 structures along the section, including 2 bridges, 8 railway viaduct bridges, 3 overpasses and 2 tunnels. They will also build five signaling control posts with digital train traffic control systems installed. Noise barriers will be installed along the tracks.
The builders will have to work at close quarters with railway tracks being currently operated. A lot of urban utility lines will have be removed from the work area, communication and power supply networks, as well as over 100 km of contact network will have to be rearranged.
NPS сompanies will also build a new passenger station Volkovskaya replacing the existing freight station. Suburban traffic from Moscow and Volkhovstroyevsky regions will be transferred here in order to ease the burden on Moscow railway station for the future high-speed railway.
Volkovskaya Station design includes a three-story station building and 4 island platforms with shelters to protect passengers from adverse weather conditions. Elevators and moving stairways will be installed at the station for the convenience of passengers with limited mobility. The passenger complex will be integrated with land and subway transportation systems.
