Natsproektstroy Group will supply a batch of Russian electric point machines for test operation on the Northern Regional Indian Railways.
"We expect that after successful test operation, our equipment will be widespread in the growing Indian railway network. In international projects, we strive to create an ecosystem with local partners, localizing production," said Dmitry Bolotsky, Deputy CEO for Commerce of Natsproektstroy Group.
Dmitry Bolotsky explained that the project is promising massive introduction of electric drives on Indian main lines.
The sleeper-design electric point machine is the latest product of NPS companies for heavy-traffic lines. The design features a longer service life and lower operating expenses. NPS designers are adapting a domestic solution for the Indian gauge of 1,676 mm (Russian gauge is 1,520 mm) and hot climates – the machine shall operate reliably at temperatures up to +70°C.
Indian Railways is currently the fourth largest national railway system in the world, and will double in the next 20 years. The Northern Regional Road is the largest in the network, with a length of more than 6,800 km. It covers the states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Chandigarh, etc.
